16 August 2010 – Zürich, Switzerland – We are delighted to announce that our next webchat with the Samsung Diamond League Ambassadors will take place in Zürich at 1700hrs CET / 1500hrs GMT on Wednesday 18 August, with Barbora Spotáková.

Spotáková’s 63.50m earned her victory in Crystal Palace last weekend consolidating her position as leader in the women’s Javelin Throw Diamond Race, despite being restricted to just one effort because of an elbow injury which helped relegate her to European bronze in Barcelona earlier this month.

The Czech, who holds a commanding lead with a total of 16 points in the Diamond Race, is the World record holder thanks to her 72.28m win at the 2008 World Athletics Final in Stuttgart, and has a career trophy cabinet the envy of most athletes with 2007 World and 2008 Olympic titles to her credit.

On the eve of next week’s Weltklasse Zürich - Samsung Diamond League meeting in Zürich, Spotáková will be available to answer your questions.

Javelin of choice

Barbora Spotáková 5:32 PM It has differed through my career but now I throw most with Nemeth. 80m with the green tail. But this season I was not in such a good shape to be able to throw with the composite which I think is the best javelin. Its Nemeth also. But you have to be 100% prepared, its for special comps only.

Hello Bara, how did you enjoy your flight with helicopter to Chur with David Oliver and have you ever flew with helicopter before?

Barbora Spotáková 5:29 PM I had never flown before. It was really nice experience. We had a lot of fun with David and with the kids in Chur (120kms from Zurich). We actually talked about hurdles with david... not javelin.

Another. How many times per day/week do you train and how much running do you do in your training?

Barbora Spotáková 5:26 PM It depends on the time of the season but I basically train everyday. I think I do much more running than most javelin throwers. I was a heptathlete so I still keep the style of the training and I love to run hurdles. It is good for rythym.

Barbora Spotáková 5:22 PM This year I enjoyed Roma best for many reasons: I was there with my boy friend. We had a nice walk in the city, our first time there and were amazed, and next day I threw very well and won.

if you win the diamond trophy and money where will you keep the trophy and what will you do with the money

Barbora Spotáková 5:19 PM I don't think about it yet. We plan to build a house so in the future the money will be for this. In this house will be a special room for all my trophies and medals

Who are the three all-time greatest javelin throwers - men and women?

Barbora Spotáková 5:18 PM I can for sure answer the men LOL Jan Zelezny but in women's javelin there has not been such a character like that, so stable for so many years. There have been many great throwers who I have learned from but I can't just point one out. Jan was my hero.

Barbora Spotáková 5:13 PM Nothing too serious I just sprained the ligiment in my right elbow in Monaco and since that time I'm renewing the injury every time I throw. Its not having the time to recover which is the problem but I think not too serious but very painful. I hope to win the diamonds also :)

Do you like animals, do have any pets?

Barbora Spotáková 5:07 PM I like animals and nature a lot. I studied agriculture in university. My brother has a dog and my boy friend has a dog but because of my travelling I can't have a dog yet. I love to throw dogs sticks to go and collect. This is part of my javelin success LOL

Barbora, how much do you lift (snatch/clean/bench press/etc) and have you ever measured your standing long jump? Thank you in advance for you answers.

Barbora Spotáková 5:04 PM Power lifting is not my favourite or key training for my success as a javelin thrower but I have to do it sometimes. snatch PB - 75kg; bench press - I don't do it all. I'm not a test person in training. So do not remember the others.

Your profile says you like beer. Which beer and have you ever tasted Finnish beer? Could beer be the secret why Finns and Czechs throw so well LOL

Barbora Spotáková 5:02 PM Yes I like beer. I like most czech beer because we have best beer in the world!!!! I know in Finnish beer is spelt 'olut' and I've tasted Karjelia. In helsinki 2005 I was in the city and I was drinking czech beer in bars. So that's the beer!
