Felix crowns first DL with seventh Doha victory  Doha (May 14) – Diamond League Ambassador Allyson Felix brought the first ever DL meeting to a rousing conclusion tonight as she continued her love affair with the Qatar Sports Club stadium where she has won six times in the past.

  After victories here in 100m and 200m in recent years, Felix elected to run 400m tonight and she again produced a commanding performance to win in 50.15 and go to the top of the 2010 world rankings.   Felix, three times a world 200m champion, started fast and, despite a challenge over the final bend from Jamaica’s Novlene Williams-Mills, emerged strongest in the straight as Botswanan Amantle Montsho came through for second in 50. more

14.05.2010 - Shanghai - Star athletes to shine in Shanghai

2010 IAAF Diamond League Shanghai, after confirming in April the participation of Jamaica’s Usain “Lightening” Bolt and China’s “Flying Man” Liu Xiang, today announced 29 more top athletes will join the event on May 23.

As a world-class track and field event, the list of athletes announced by the sponsor of IAAF Diamond League Shanghai included many 2009 World Champions and 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medallists.  The Diamond League Shanghai is also seen as a great opportunity for outstanding Chinese athletes to compete head to head against the world’s top athletes. more

NEW YORK (June 12, 2010) — Four world-leading marks and several meet records made for an entertaining afternoon at Saturday’s adidas Grand Prix, the first of two American stops on the inaugural IAAF Diamond League circuit.



Women’s Pole Vault
National record-holder and former United States team member Jillian Schwartz achieved a 4.60 today, just ahead of Jenn Suhr’s 4.50. Suhr, the 2008 Olympic silver medalist who set an American record at this meet in 2007, competed for the first time this year. more

The world’s fastest man in 2010, Jamaica’s Asafa Powell, has tipped the Aviva Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for success at London 2012 ahead of the Aviva British Grand Prix in Gateshead on July 10.

The former 100m world record holder commented on the standard of British athletics prior to the Aviva British Grand Prix and sees them as a viable threat in what is the greatest athletic competition. He said: “Seeing that London 2012 will be at the British athletes’ home, they should shine. more

It was in the final hour of the Meeting Areva 2010 that the organisers concentrated the most highly awaited track events, such as the men’s 100m and 110m hurdles, those whose protagonists were presented as the evening’s stars.

However, before seeing Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell square up to each other in the last race on the programme, the public were given the chance to enjoy the numerous other top level confrontations between the best athletes of our time. The women’s long jump at DN Galan Friday, August 6 at Stockholm Olympic Stadium looks like a revenge meeting between European Champion Ineta Radevica, Latvia and Naide Gomes, Portugal.

The first Samsung Diamond League final offered a night of fascinating athletics at a sold-out Letzigrund Stadium. There were two world leading performances, as well as a number of Swiss athletes offering hints of a very promising future.
