Gateshead - May 23rd
Dina Asher-Smith stole the show at a rainy season opener, clocking 11.35 in difficult conditions to beat the likes of Sha'Carri Richardson and Marie-Josée Ta Lou and get her Diamond Trophy defence and Tokyo 2020 preparation off to a flier. Mohamed Katir also laid down an early marker with a surprise victory in the men's 5000m, while Mondo Duplantis was subjected to a rare defeat as he struggled to overcome both the weather and world champion Sam Kendricks.

Doha - May 28th
The meeting records and world leads fell like flies in the second meet of the season, as the Diamond League moved from the rain of Gateshead to the baking sun of Doha. Rai Benjamin (400m hurdles) and Norah Jeruto (3000m steeplechase) both set meeting records, while Kenyans Timothy Cheruiyot and Faith Kipyegon showed why they remain the athletes to beat over 1500m with a world lead apiece. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who is hitting her best form at just the right time this summer, clocked 10.84 to win the women's 100m, while there was a surprise win for Katie Nageotte in the women's pole vault.

Femke Bol, meanwhile, continued her sudden dominance of the women's 400m hurdles with her second of four victories in the series so far.
