Fans will return to the Oslo Diamond League this season as meeting organisers confirmed on Friday that 5000 spectators will be allowed into the Bislett Stadion on July 1st.
After the Norwegian government announced Friday that it would begin the third major phase of its reopening plan, the Bislett Games will be able to host spectators for the first time since 2019 when the world's best athletes descend on Oslo for the fourth Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season next month.
"We are very pleased to have achieved this. We are happy to be able to invite athletes such as Karsten Warholm and Jakob Ingebrigtsen to a full Wanda Diamond League meeting, as well as enjoy a party in the stands!" said meeting director Steinar Hoen.
The event will be the first major international event in Norway since the beginning of the pandemic. The first start lists will be published on Sunday.
Ticket holders will be split into 10 groups of 500 people, and all spectators will be asked to provide a "green certificate" showing that they are either fully vaccinated, have recovered from an infection or have an up-to-date negative test.
More information on the entry requirements and how to get hold of tickets can be found on the Oslo Diamond League website.
The Bislett Games is the next leg of the 2021 Wanda Diamond League series. As in previous years, it will host some of the best athletes from Norway and across the world as they compete for qualification points in their bid to reach the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich on September 8th and 9th.
