Yaroslava Mahuchikh made history and headlines when she soared to gold at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade on Saturday just weeks after fleeing conflict in her home country, Ukraine.
Ukrainian fans had more to cheer about the following day, as Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk claimed a surprise silver medal in the women's triple jump, dedicating her victory to "all the Ukrainian people".
As the country looks back on a golden weekend of athletics, we take a look at some of the Ukrainian stars who have lit up the Wanda Diamond League circuit in the last 12 years.
Olha Saladukha was the first Ukrainian athlete to be crowned Diamond League champion, claiming five wins on her way to the Diamond Trophy in 2011.
Bekh-Romanchuk has continued the Ukrainian tradition in the women's triple jump with three wins on the circuit in the last two seasons, in Stockholm, Doha and Gateshead.
Yet it is in the high jump that Ukrainian athletes have been most successful, with Bohdan Bondarenko leading from the front in 2013.
Bondarenko v Barshim
Bondarenko picked up five victories, including three meeting records and one national record of 2.41m, on his way to a first men's high jump title in 2013.
He remained the favourite to defend his title a year later, locking horns with Qatari rival Mutaz Essa Barshim in an incredible, season-long duel.
Barshim threw down the gauntlet with 2.41m in Rome, before Bondarenko went one better with another series record of 2.42m in New York.
He then pushed Barshim all the way in the final, with the Qatari claiming the ultimate prize with a breathtaking 2.43m on a memorable night in Brussels.

Mahuchikh on the rise
Bondarenko returned to winning ways in 2019, as he picked up victories in Rome and Rabat to mark himself out as a title contender early in the season.
But it was his compatriot Andriy Protsenko who ultimately claimed the crown, flying under the radar for much of the season before delivering a season's best of 2.32m in Zurich to become the third and to date the last Ukrainian to win the Diamond Trophy.
Meanwhile, Mahuchikh was making waves in the women's high jump, clearing a personal best of 1.96m in the season opener in Doha just a few months before her 18th birthday.
Multiple Diamond Trophy winner Mariya Lasitskene ended up dominating that season, but Mahuchikh would be back in 2020, picking up two wins in Monaco and Stockholm and a second-place finish behind compatriot Yuliya Levchenko in Rome.

By 2021, she was a serious title contender, and looked on course to win a first Diamond Trophy after twice clearing the two-metre mark on her way to wins in Stockholm and Brussels.
She came within inches of glory at the final in Zurich, but ultimately had to make do with second place after a dramatic comeback from Lasitskene.
After her world indoor gold in Belgrade, however, Mahuchikh is now very much the favourite to claim the high jump title this year.
