Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce
A four-time Diamond League champion, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has been one of the series' finest and most decorated sprinters over the past decade. With 19 Diamond League wins and nine World Championship titles under her belt, she has dominated her discipline like few others in the last decade. In Tokyo, she will be out to reclaim the 100m gold medal she held for eight years with victories in Beijing and London before surrendering it to fellow Jamaican Elaine Thompson in Rio five years ago. The vetera sprinter has hit form at just the right time, and clocked 10.84 in the 100m at the Doha Diamond League in May.

Mondo Duplantis
All eyes will be on Armand "Mondo" Duplantis in the men's pole vault, with many expecting the Swede to attack his own world record in Tokyo. Duplantis has been utterly dominant since first breaking the world record in February 2020, and after an early defeat to Sam Kendricks in Gateshead, he cruised to back-to-back victories in Oslo and Stockholm in the Wanda Diamond League earlier this month, clearing the six-metre-mark on both occasions. In Tokyo, he will be out to claim his first global championship title.
Sifan Hassan
Another serial world-record breaker who has dominated in the Diamond League of late is Sifan Hassan. She broke the mile world record in Monaco in 2019 and set a meeting record in the 1500m in Florence this year, but she will be focusing on the 5000m in Tokyo. The Dutch star has Diamond League pedigree in the long distance as well, however. She is the Diamond Trophy holder in the 5000m, and broke the one-hour world record at the Wanda Diamond League exhibition event in Brussels last year.
Karsten Warholm
Norwegian hurdles star Karsten Warholm joined the world record club himself when he beat Kevin Young's 24-year-old mark in his home stadium at the Oslo Diamond League on July 1st. A two-time world champion and reigning Diamond League champion, Warholm is the firm favourite to claim his first ever Olympic gold in the men's 400m hurdles.

Yulimar Rojas
Having long since assumed the mantle of queen of the triple jump from Caterine Ibargüen, Yulimar Rojas is the woman to beat at the Olympics, and may also have a world record in her sights. Yet to win the Diamond Trophy, she has nonetheless has five meeting victories to her name and has already nailed down her place in this year's Wanda Diamond League final with victory in Doha and a second-place finish in the Final 3 in Monaco.
