Joe Kovacs chalked up his fourth successive Wanda Diamond League win with a meeting record in Brussels on Thursday, cementing his status as firm favourite for the men's shot put title in Zurich next week.
Kovacs, who had already qualified for the final after wins in Rome, Silesia and Lausanne, threw a meeting record 22.61m in the second round to cruise to victory against a strong in Brussels' city centre.
Three-time Diamond League champion Tom Walsh came in second with a first round effort of 21.60m, which was enough to secure his place in next week's final in Zurich.
His fellow New Zealander Jacko Gill snuck into third with 21.32m in the fifth round, before all three held their positions in the Final 3.
The men's shot put Wanda Diamond League final will takeplace on Zurich's Sechseläutenplatz on September 7th, with Kovacs and Walsh set to battle it out with reigning champion Ryan Crouser for the prestigious Diamond Trophy.
