Seven meeting records fell at the Rabat Diamond League as athletes delivered in the Moroccan capital.
American throwers led the way in the field events. Joe Kovacs launched 22.58m in the men’s shot put to break Ryan Crouser’s long-standing meeting record from 2017, while Valarie Allman extended the mark in the women’s discus with a winning throw of 68.75m.

On the track, Jacory Patterson produced a stunning 44.11s to defeat Matthew Hudson-Smith in the men’s 400m and set a new meeting record. The middle-distance events also produced record-breaking performances, with Audrey Werro clocking 1:56.56 in the women’s 800m and Yared Nuguse running 3:30.35 in the men’s 1500m.

Tobi Amusan added another meeting record in the women’s 100m hurdles, crossing the line in 12.28s, while Jamaica completed a clean sweep of the women’s 100m with Tina Clayton leading home a Jamaican 1-2-3 in 10.85s.

Kenny Bednarek stormed to victory in the men’s 200m in 19.69s to break an eight-year-old meeting record set by Andre De Grasse.

Home favourite Soufiane El Bakkali capped the evening in style with a world-leading performance in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, securing his fifth consecutive victory at the Rabat meeting, whilst Frederik Ruppert broke the European record to finish second in 7:57.80.
