110m hurdles champion Zhoya returns to Paris

Wanda Diamond League champion Sasha Zhoya will launch his series title defence in his home city when he returns to the Meeting de Paris in the 110m hurdles next month.

Paris-born Zhoya enjoyed a breakthrough season on the Diamond League circuit in 2024, winning in the French capital, Rome and Brussels en route to his first ever title.

He returns to the Stade Charléty this year, where he will once again take on his idol and rival, Olympic champion Grant Holloway.

“I’m incredibly motivated at the prospect of competing in the Meeting de Paris this year, exclaims the 25-year-old hurdler, who last raced a 110 m hurdles way back in September 2023. I have some fantastic memories of it as I’ve already smashed my personal best three times,” he said.

“As someone who was born in Paris, running in front of my loved ones is always a highlight and I really feed off this energy, which is so intense with all the fans in the stands.

“After last year’s injury, I was able to get back to the peak of fitness over the winter and I’m dreaming of a new personal best in the French capital thanks to the heat of the competition.”

The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final, which will be held in Zurich on 27 and 28 August 2025.
