Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi set a new world record over 1000m on a historic night at the Monaco leg of the Wanda Diamond League on Friday.
Wanyonyi clocked 2:11.83, shaving 0.13 seconds off Noah Ngeny’s previous best from 1999.
It was one of several record-breaking performances at this year’s Meeting Herculis EBS, which also saw five world leads and eight meeting records.
