After a furious start to the season in Asia and Africa with meetings in Xiamen, Suzhou, Doha and Rabat, the Wanda Diamond League is heading to Europe.
Next weekend, the biggest stars in global athletics will meet in Rome before the 2025 Road to the Final moves on to Oslo and Stockholm: Three iconic meetings in the space of ten days that will set the course for the Wanda Diamond League at Weltklasse Zürich at the end of August.
Record-breaking atmosphere, full stadiums and digital reach
With two Wanda Diamond League records, 13 national records, 23 meeting records and 16 world leads, the first four stops of this season have set the standard for elite performances in 2025.
They were also a testament to the sport’s global popularity, with full stadiums and raucous atmospheres in China, Qatar and Morocco.
That enthusiasm looks set to continue, with several other Diamond League meetings also now reaching full capacity. Last month, tickets for the series final at Weltklasse Zürich sold out within two hours of going on sale.
The Wanda Diamond League – Where champions are made
Since its inauguration in 2010, the Wanda Diamond League has been the leading meeting series in athletics. It comprises 15 top-class events in 13 countries on four continents and offers athletes from 32 disciplines a chance to compete week in, week out at the very highest level.
From April to August, athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final, with only the best and most consistent earning their place at the season finale.
This year’s final at Weltklasse Zürich begins 27 August with a city event in front of the Zurich Opera House on Sechseläutenplatz and culminates with a bumper programme on 28 August at Letzigrund Stadium.
Both days offer high-stakes, winner-takes-all competition, with record prize money, a World Athletics Championships wild card and the prestigious Diamond Trophy up for grabs.
All eyes on Zurich as the summer heats up
Weltklasse Zürich, a prestigious final host with a long-standing tradition and a driver of innovation on the international stage, is not only part of the athletics boom – it is also actively driving it forward with a broad social commitment.
With the upcoming meetings in Rome, Oslo and Stockholm, the hot phase of the season is now beginning in Europe. The athletes will give their all to secure their place in the final – a highlight of the season that will set new standards in both sporting and emotional terms.
Now as ever, the Wanda Diamond League proves week after week that this sport is alive and kicking – powerful, passionate and with global impact.
