Trio of Olympic medallists in Eugene 400m

Quincy Hall, Kirani James and Muzala Samukonga will face off in the men's 400m at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Eugene next month.

Three of the best 400m runners in the world will go head to head at the ninth Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on July 5.

Reigning Olympic champion Quincy Hall will take on four-time Diamond Trophy winner Kirani James and fellow Paris 2024 medallists Muzala Samukonga in a star-studded race at Hayward Field.

Hall won gold in dramatic fashion with a personal best of 43.40 at the Olympic Games last summer.

Having then spent months out of action with injury, he returned to elite competition in the Diamond League this year, claiming his first victory of the season in Rome earlier this month.

James is a four-time Diamond League champion, having won the 400m Diamond Trophy in 2011, 2015, 2022 and 2023.

Olympic champion in London in 2012, the Grenadian has 20 individual Diamond League wins to his name, the most recent coming in Eugene at the series final in 2023.

Samukonga is ranked number three in the world and claimed bronze in Paris last August. He claimed his first ever Diamond League win in Rome last season.
