Wu, Warholm and Furlani head to Xiamen

Wu Yanni, Karsten Warholm and Mattia Furlani will joing a growing number of global stars at the 2026 Wanda Diamond League meeting in Xiamen this May.

World record holder Karsten Warholm will return to Xiamen for the third Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season on May 23, a year after he set a new 300m hurdles world best at the Egret Stadium in 2025.

Warholm joins a growing list of global superstars in Xiamen, with Chinese 100m hurdles ace Wu Yanni and Italy’s long jump world champion Mattia Furlani also confirming their attendance this week.

All eyes will be on the Norwegian hurdles legend, who stormed to a world best of 33.05 in Xiamen at last year’s season opener.

It was the first of two world bests for Warholm, who later clocked 32.67 at his home Diamond League meeting in Oslo.

He will be back in action in the 400m hurdles at this year’s Red Star Macalline Xiamen Meeting, as he looks to defend his Diamond League title in 2026.

As well as three Diamond Trophies, Warholm also has an Olympic gold medal and three world titles under his belt and is still the world record holder over 400m hurdles with 45.94.

Fellow hurdler Wu will be chasing her first ever Diamond League win when she lines up on home soil in Xiamen.

The 29-year-old has been a regular fixture at the Chinese Diamond League meetings in recent years and will be able to count on home support at the 53,000-capacity Egret Stadium.

Furlani is eyeing a first Diamond League title in 2026, having stormed to the indoor and outdoor world titles last season.

The Italian, who also won bronze at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, is still yet to win in 11 career Diamond League appearances so far.

Xiamen is the third leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Doha on May 8 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
