Melissa Jefferson-Wooden will be hoping to add another iconic Diamond League meeting to her growing list of triumphs when she headlines the women’s 100m in Stockholm on June 7.
US sprinter Jefferson-Wooden enjoyed a breakthrough season last year, going unbeaten as she soared to the world title and the top of the world standings in the 100m.
That run included three Diamond League victories in Eugene, Silesia and Brussels, as the 25-year-old showed she could deliver on all of the sport’s biggest stages.
In June, she will line up in one of the world’s most iconic arenas yet again when she takes on the 100m at the 1912 Olympic Stadium in Stockholm.
“Competing in an arena with so much history makes BAUHAUS-galan in Stockholm a special competition for me. It will be my first competition in Sweden, so I’m looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere in such a historic stadium,” said Jefferson-Wooden, who will face the likes of British legend Dina Asher-Smith and Swedish star Julia Henriksson in Stockholm.
It will be Jefferson-Wooden’s first appearance at the BAUHAUS-Galan meeting and one of a growing number of Diamond League appearances for the world champion in 2026.
The US star is also set to race against Olympic champion Julien Alfred in Rome and Silesia and will once again headline her home Diamond League meeting at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene.
Having snatched the world title last season, Jefferson-Wooden is now eyeing a first ever Diamond League title as she looks to cement her status as queen of the women’s sprints in 2026.
Stockholm is the fifth leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
