The 2021 Wanda Diamond League season continues apace this week with the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala in Florence. The third Diamond League meeting of the season, Florence will host world record holders such as Sifan Hassan and Joshua Cheptegei, as well as Diamond Trophy holders Dina Asher-Smith and Malaika Mihambo. The action begins at 18:45 local time (GMT+2) on Thursday with the women’s discus.
On Wednesday, some of the stars of the meeting – which has moved to Tuscany from Rome for one year only in 2021 – faced the media at the pre-meeting press conference at the Salone dei Cinquecento in Florence’s Palazzo Vecchio.
