Echevarría returns to Stockholm
The last time Juan Miguel Echevarría competed in Stockholm, he jumped so far that the stadium had to extend the sand pit. On Sunday, he’s back at the Swedish Wanda Diamond League meeting, two years after his astonishing 8.83m there in 2018.
The 22-year-old will take on world champion Tajay Gayle and Swedish favourite Thobias Montler, who won the BAUHAUS-Galan in front of his home crowd last year.
A fast race is also expected in the mens 100m, with Ronnie Baker, the second fastest man in the US Olympic trials (9.85), and fellow Americans Isiah Young and Marvin Bracy, both of whom have also made it under 10 seconds in the 100m.
In the 400m 2012 Olympic champion Kirani James will challenge Isaac Makwala, Vernon Norwood and Wilbert London, while Kenya’s Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotich will go up against Andreas Kramer in the men’s 800m.
