Five of the best photo finishes from 2015

Few things are more thrilling than a dramatic photo finish on the track. We've collated five of the best from this year's IAAF Diamond League action.

Women’s 200m – Birmingham

Firm favourite Allyson Felix missed out on victory as she was pipped to the line by Jeneba Tarmoh, while local youngster Dina Asher-Smith came in third by a hair’s breadth. The win saw Tarmoh briefly move ahead in the Diamond Race, though Felix came back later in the season to clinch the Diamond Trophy.

Women’s 100m – Eugene

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce picked up her first points on the way to another Diamond Race victory when she just nudged past Murielle Ahoure in Eugene. It would take Fraser-Pryce until the closing phase of the season before she was finally able to put daylight between herself and the chasing pack in the Diamond Race.

 Men’s 100m – Brussels

Femi Ogunode and Jimmy Vicaut were just a fraction of a second away from triumphing over Justin Gatlin in Brussels. The American won the Diamond Race.

 Women’s 100m Hurdles – Oslo

Jasmin Stowers established a two point lead in the Diamond Race after going neck and neck with Brianna Rollins in Oslo. Stowers remained in the hunt for the Diamond Trophy right up until the final in Brussels, but was eventually beaten by Dawn Harper Nelson in a thrilling finale.

Women’s 3000m Steeplechase – Doha

Virginia Nyambura provided the biggest shock of 2015 when, as a pacemaker, she grabbed an early victory in Doha before going on to win the Diamond Race and a first major title of her career. The win in Doha was hard earned, and even after 3 kilometres, it came down to the wire, with just a few fractions of a second separating her from Hiwot Ayalew at the finish line.
