Bol, Wanyonyi and discus stars confirmed for WDL Final

Dutch 400m hurdles ace Femke Bol and Kenyan distance star Emmanuel Wanyonyi will both defend their Wanda Diamond League titles at the series final in Zurich on August 27-28.

The Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich continues to take shape, with reigning champions Femke Bol and Emmanuel Wanyonyi the latest global superstars to confirm their attendance at Weltklasse on August 27-28.

Bol and Wanyonyi will both be hoping to defend their titles and extend an extraordinary string of dominance in the Diamond League in 2025.

Dutch 400m hurdles star Bol has won four successive Diamond League titles since 2021, winning 28 consecutive races in the process.

She has continued that imperious form in 2025, claiming four wins en route to this year’s final and breaking meeting records in Monaco, Stockholm and Rabat.

Wanyonyi won the men’s 800m title in 2023 and 2024, and will be looking to make it three in a row in Zurich.

In an era when the 800m has been among the most fiercely contested events in athletics, the Kenyan has lost just four of his 16 Diamond League races since 2022.

This year’s final will also see plenty of big names in the men’s and women’s discus events.

Two-time Olympic champion Valarie Allman will be chasing her fifth successive Diamond League title in Zurich. She faces a tough a field which includes world champion Laulauga Tausaga and six-time Diamond League champion Sandra Elkasevic.

Sweden’s Daniel Ståhl and Slovenia’s Kristjan Čeh, who have three series titles between them, will also be in action in the men’s event.
