Davis-Woodhall and Mihambo to clash in Stockholm

Olympic long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall will face off against world number one Malaika Mihambo in a clash of the titans at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Stockholm next month.

One of the sport’s great entertainers, Davis-Woodhall will be hoping to pick up her second career Diamond League win when she appears at the BAUHAUS-Galan for the first time on June 15.

She will have her work cut out against 2019 Diamond League champion and Paris 2024 silver medallist Mihambo, who knows Stockholm well from recent appearances in 2023 and 2022.

“I am looking forward to coming to Sweden to compete at BAUHAUS-Galan. It is an
honour to compete in front of the fantastic audience in Stockholm. I hope to inspire young girls to take up athletics – not only to chase dreams and goals but also as a fun way to be physically active and healthy,” said Davis-Woodhall.

“I always give my all in every competition – and that is the goal in Stockholm as well. I love Stockholm – both the atmosphere and the enthusiastic crowd. I am sure that their support will help me achieve my goals,” said Mihambo.

Stockholm will be the first of at least two Diamond League meetings between the two long jump heavyweights, with both also already confirmed for the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on July 5.

They will not be the only world-class jumpers in the Swedish capital, meanwhile, with a stellar line-up also confirmed for the women’s high jump.

World record holder and Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh will taken on world indoor champion Nicola Olyslagers in the high jump, hoping to build on her two opening victories in Xiamen and Keqiao.

The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final, which will be held in Zurich on 27 and 28 August 2025.
