Duplantis to headline pole vault in Zurich

Pole vault world record holder will return to Weltklasse Zürich as part of his 2026 Wanda Diamond League campaign.

World record breaker Mondo Duplantis will headline the men’s pole vault at the Weltklasse Zürich Wanda Diamond League meeting on August 27.

Duplantis will compete in Zurich for the sixth year in a row as he continues his bid for a 16th world record and sixth Diamond League title in 2026.

The Swedish superstar has won three of his five Diamond Trophies in Zurich, including the most recent one on the first day of last year’s final at Sechseläutenplatz.

He hopes to win the series title for a sixth successive season at this year’s final in Brussels on September 4-5, moving to within just one triumph of Renaud Lavillenie and Christian Taylor’s current record of seven.

Duplantis has had a mixed start to the Diamond League season this year, breaking a meeting record in Keqiao before suffering a surprise defeat on home soil in Stockholm.

He returns to Diamond League action in Paris this Sunday, before further appearances in Monaco, London, Silesia, Lausanne and Zurich.

Zurich is the 14th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
