Fraser-Pryce eyes crucial points in Monaco

Freshly crowned world 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will be hoping to take a huge step towards another major title when she resumes her Wanda Diamond League campaign in Monaco on August 10th. 

Fraser-Pryce, who clinched her fifth career World Championships gold medal with a championship record of 10.67 on Sunday, is in fine form as she looks to consolidate her place in the 100m Diamond League Final in Zurich at the end of the season. 

10.67 was also the time she ran at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Paris ahead of the World Championships, a performance which saw her break into the top eight in the qualification standings and set a course for Zurich. 

Yet she will need another win to lock down her final berth and catch up with compatriots Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shericka Jackson, whom she beat to gold in Oregon last weekend. 

With three 10.67 performances under her belt this season, she may even be able to topple Marion Jones’ Herculis meeting record of 10.72, which has stood since 1998. 

Another world champion set to grace the track at the Stade Louis II is Grant Holloway, who defended his world title with a solid 13.03 just minutes before Fraser-Pryce’s record on Sunday.
