French stars eye glory in Paris amid schedule change

A number of French stars, including European champions Gabriel Tual and Alice Finot, will take to the track in front of their home crowd when the Wanda Diamond League resumes in Paris on July 7th.

Freshly crowned European champions Alice Finot (3000m steeplechase) and Gabriel Tual (800m) will compete in front of their home fans when the Wanda Diamond League resumes in Paris on July 7th, just two weeks before the start of the Olympic Games in the French capital.

The 2024 Meeting de Paris was always going to be special with the Olympics looming, and French fans will now have even more to cheer as an array of local stars line up at the Stade Charléty.

Tual claimed victory in the men’s 800m at the European Championships in Rome, while Finot overcame German rival Gesa Felicitas Krause in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, and both will be aiming for their first ever Diamond League win at the eighth meeting of the season next month.

Diamond League record champion Renaud Lavillenie will also compete in Paris, going up against world record holder and Olympic champion Mondo Duplantis and fellow Frenchman and Thibaut Collet.

Other French stars in action at the Stade Charléty include discus veteran Mélina Robert-Michon and hammer throwers Rose Loga and Yann Chaussinand.
