Hull to headline stellar 1500m in Keqiao

Olympic medallists Jessica Hull and Tsige Duguma will be among the star names in the women's 1500m at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Keqiao next month.

Australia’s Jessica Hull will headline a world-class 1500m at the opening Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16.

Olympic silver medallist and 2000m world record holder Hull will be chasing her first Diamond League win over 1500m in a field which includes four of the current top ten in the world rankings.

She joins a growing list of superstars in Keqiao, including Faith Kipyegon, Mondo Duplantis and Karsten Warholm.

The 30-year-old will be joined by a number of big names including 800m Olympic silver medallist Tsige Duguma of Ethiopia.

Ethiopia’s Birke Haylom and the USA’s Sinclaire Johnson are also currently in the world top ten, while Kenya’s Dorcus Ewoi is ranked world number 11.

Hall is one of six Australians on the entry list, alongside world number six Linden Hall, Sarah Billings, Abbey Caldwell, Georgia Griffith and Claudia Hollingsworth.

The women’s shot put field has also been announced for Keqiao, with nine of the world top ten in action.

Reigning world and Diamond League champion Jessica Schilder, Olympic champion Yemisi Ogunleye and world indoor champion Chase Jackson will take on Maggie Ewen, Sarah Mitton, Jaida Ross, Maddison-Lee Wesche, Zhang Linru, Song Jiayuan and Fanny Roos.

Shanghai/Keqiao is the opening leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which will cross four continents and 15 cities en route to the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
