Kerr returns to Monaco

New Zealand high jump star Hamish Kerr will compete at the Herculis EBS Monaco Wanda Diamond League meeting for the second year in a row on July 11.

Olympic high jump champion Hamish Kerr will continue his quest for a first Wanda Diamond League title when he returns to Herculis EBS Monaco for the second year in a row on July 11.

New Zealand star Kerr cleared an impressive 2.33m to win at the Diamond League in Monaco last season, in what proved to be the perfect preparation for his Olympic triumph in Paris a fortnight later.

Kerr will be hoping to light up the Stade Louis II again this year, as he joins the likes of Mondo Duplantis, Femke Bol and Gout Gout in a sparkling list of stars confirmed for the tenth meeting of the season.

The Olympic gold medallist began his 2025 campaign with a second place finish in Doha last weekend.

That defeat came at the hands of Shelby McEwen, the man he had beaten in a dramatic jump off to win gold in Paris.

“It’s early in the season and if I look how I jumped last week I am pleased with my improvement, although as an athlete I always want more. So I’m happy with this result, but I know there is much more to come,” he said in the Qatari capital.

Kerr is chasing his first ever Diamond League title in 2025, having claimed four individual victories in the series over the past two years.
