Kenyan distance legend Faith Kipyegon will return to the site of one her finest world records when she lines up in the women’s 3000m at the Monaco leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League in July.
Kipyegon returns to the Herculis EBS Monaco meeting on July 10, three years after she broke the mile world record there in 2023.
That was one of three world records she broke during the 2023 Diamond League season, and one of five she has set at Diamond League meetings in the past three years.
Her most recent world record came at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene last July, where she clocked 3:48.68 in the 1500m, clocking 0.36 seconds off her own previous best.
Kipyegon set the Diamond League record over 3000m in Silesia last season, falling less than a second short of Wang Junxia’s 32-year-old world record.
She will have another chance to make history over three kilometres in Monaco, as she aims to make 2026 the fourth year in a row where she has broken a world record in the Diamond League.
As well as ever faster times on the track, Kipyegon is also chasing a sixth career Diamond League title in 2026.
She currently has five Diamond Trophies and 29 Diamond League victories under her belt, making her one of the most successful athletes in the series’ history.
Monaco is the tenth leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Doha on May 8 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
