Oslo: Local Star Warholm To Tackle Clement and Bett
One of the sensations for Norwegian athletics in 2016 was the exciting development of Karsten Warholm. He started the season as a decathlete that dabbled in 400m and 400m hurdles. By the end of 2016, the twenty-one-year-old from Ulsteinvik had established himself as a major global threat at the 400m hurdles. Last season he broke the Norwegian record for 400m hurdles on numerous occasions. He achieved it at the European Championships in Amsterdam with a time of 48.84! Then he stepped up again at the Rio Olympics Games with another national record of 48.49 seconds and his only disappointment was to not earn a place in that final.
Stockholm: Three World Leaders Join Cast
BAUHAUS-galan features an exciting new formula when the IAAF Diamond League stops in Stockholm on 18 June. The world leading female and male discus throwers Sandra Perkovic and Fedrick Dacres will compete simultaneously. Eugene: Chespol Stuns With World U20 Record
On the first evening of action at the IAAF Diamond League in Eugene, many had expected the women’s 3000m steeplechase to prove another demonstration by world record-holder Ruth Jebet, but a new star emerged in the form of Kenya’s Celliphine Chespol. The 18-year-old came back from near-disaster at the penultimate water jump to win in 8:58.78, the second-fastest run of all time and a world U20 record*.
