There was definitely a light-hearted mood at the traditional pre-meeting press conference for the Weltklasse Zurich, a day ahead of the first of the two IAAF Diamond League finals on Thursday (3).

As befits the first of two IAAF Diamond League finals, with the Weltklasse Zurich coming just a few days after the end of the IAAF World Championships, Beijing 2015, the famous Swiss meeting will feature a plethora of world champions on Thursday (3).
A Close-Up on Zurich
The IAAF Diamond League is back and it’s finals time. With the world’s best athletes having competed for medals over nine days in Beijing at the IAAF World Championships, their thoughts now turn from precious metals to precious stones, as the destination of Diamond Trophies in 16 disciplines will be decided on Thursday evening in the Swiss city of Zurich.
Pre-Finals Diamond Race Update
The IAAF World Championships in Beijing are over. But the show goes on. There is more top level athletics to be enjoyed over the next two weeks with the IAAF Diamond League finals in Zürich and Brussels.
Zurich: 26 New World Champions to Compete at Letzigrund Stadium!
On to Zurich! 20 newly-crowned world champions of individual events and six relay world champions are on their way to Switzerland after the World Championships in China. The all-star cast for Weltklasse Zürich includes Kenya’s 800m world record holder David Rudisha (Kenya), the Ethiopian 1500m world record holder Genzebe Dibaba, and sprint queen Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica). Along with many other international tops stars and Swiss local heroes, they are getting ready for the first final of the 2015 IAAF Diamond League on Thursday, 3 September at Letzigrund Stadium.

The provisional entry lists for the first final of the 2015 IAAF Diamond League, the Weltklasse Zürich meeting on Thursday, 3rd September, are now online.
Brussels: Beijing 200m Gold and 100m Silver Medallist Dafne Schippers To Compete
Dafne Schippers, the second fastest women in the 100m at the IAAF World Championships 2015 in Beijing, has been confirmed for the AG Insurance Memorial Van Damme in Brussels, the second final of the 2015 IAAF Diamond Leage taking place on 11th September.
Sebastian Coe Elected IAAF President
Sebastian Coe was elected as the sixth IAAF President at the 50th IAAF Congress in Beijing, China, on Wednesday (19).
Zurich: Genzebe Dibaba Joins Star-Studded Fields
Genzebe Dibaba (ETH) is the latest star to sign up for Weltklasse Zürich 2015. The 3000m race with the 1500m world record holder will be one of the great highlights of the IAAF Diamond League final event on 3 September. In addition, pole vaulter Jennifer Suhr (USA), another world record holder (indoor), has been added to the meeting’s entry lists.
