2017 - Taylor calls his own record
Along with French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie, two-time Olympic triple jump champion Christian Taylor is the most successful athlete in Diamond League history, having notched up an astonishing seven titles since he first got his hands on the Diamond Trophy in 2012.
The American also holds the series record in the men's triple jump, an enormous 18.11 effort which he unleashed on home soil at the Prefontaine Classic in 2017.
Taylor had already predicted a big performance prior to the meeting, promising that Eugene would be "a game-changer" in the season in which he would win his sixth Diamond Trophy and third World Championship gold medal.
Having smashed the Diamond League record in an epic battle with compatriot Will Claye, he put the performance down to the venue: "It's Hayward Field, man, there’s magic in the air. Always."
