Lyles and Richardson eye Diamond League titles in Eugene

The fastest athletes on the planet, Sha'Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles, will both attack the Wanda Diamond League title over 100m at the series final in Eugene on September 16-17th.

100m world champions Sha'Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles will both attempt to win the Diamond Trophy on home soil on the first day of the Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene on September 16th.

Lyles and Richardson have both been in fine form in the Wanda Diamond League this season, and now hope to add another title to their World Athletics Championships gold medals at Hayward Field.

Richardson is aiming for her first Diamond League title, while five-time champions Lyles is hoping for a sixth Diamond Trophy, having previously been crowned Diamond League champion four times in the 200m and once in the 100m. A sixth triumph in Eugene would put the US star just one title away from equalling Renaud Lavillenie and Christian Taylor's record of seven Diamond Trophies.

Sha’Carri Richardson declared, “I’m not back. I’m better.” following her 100-meter win at the 2023 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships in July at Hayward Field. She followed her national title by taking home gold at the 2023 World Athletics Championships Budapest23 in both the 100-meter and 4x100-meter relay, and bronze in the 200-meters. The two-time World Champion intends on keeping that promise at this year’s Prefontaine Classic women’s 100-meter.

Fresh off a legendary World Athletics Championships gold medal triple (100-meter, 200-meter, and 4x100-meter relay), Noah Lyles looks to add another Wanda Diamond League Champion trophy to his case. The Olympic medalist’s wind-legal personal best of 9.83s was set just this season and currently has him ranked first globally in the event.

The Wanda Diamond League Final takes place on September 16-17th at Hayward Field in Eugene, and features the biggest stars of global track and field. Athletes qualify by earning points at Wanda Diamond League meetings across four continents between May and September.
