The 2021 Wanda Diamond League season kicks off in Gateshead on May 23rd, beginning a journey across 10 countries and three continents as the world's best athletes battle it out for a place in the Diamond League Final in Zurich on September 8th and 9th.
With exactly one month to go until the season launch in the UK, here's everything you need to know about the season schedule.
Calendar
Gateshead will be followed by the Doha Diamond League on May 28th before a special edition of the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala in Florence on June 10th. Yet the season really gets going in July, with 10 meetings in two months leading up to the final in September.
The 2021 calendar remains subject to further changes depending on the global health situation in the coming months. Unlike in 2020, this year’s Wanda Diamond League will be a full, structured series in which athletes compete for a place in the Final and a shot at the Diamond Trophy.

Diamond Disciplines
Each Diamond Discipline will be held up to seven times on the Road To The Final, with athletes able to earn points at each opportunity as they bid to qualify for a place on the Zurich start list.
The women's 100m, for example, will begin in Gateshead before travelling to Doha, Oslo, Shanghai, Eugene, Lausanne and Paris in the course of the season.
