Sprint stars eye final bid in Brussels

US sprinters Sha'Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman will race in the 100m and 200m at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Brussels on August 22.

Sha’Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman will both make a last bid for the Wanda Diamond League Final when they line up at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme in Brussels on August 22.

US sprinters Richardson and Coleman will race in the women’s 100m and men’s 200m respectively at the last Diamond League meeting before the series final in Zurich on August 27-28.

Two-time Diamond League champion Coleman is on the verge of qualification in the men’s 100m, but still needs points if he is to secure his 200m ticket to the season finale.

Richardson, meanwhile, is in need of a big performance after finishing ninth in her only Diamond League race of the season so far in Eugene.

Both stars undoubtedly have the quality to pull qualification out of the fire, however, having been among the very best sprinters in the world in recent seasons.

Coleman is a three-time world champion and the world record holder over 60 metres and has nine career Diamond League wins to his name.

Richardson is the Olympic silver medallist and reigning world champion over 100m and has picked up five Diamond League wins in the past three seasons.
