Warholm ‘can’t wait’ for London return

400m hurdles world record holder Karsten Warholm will return to London for the 11th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League in July.

Norwegian 400m hurdles superstar Karsten Warholm will make his first appearance in London for seven years when he lines up at the Novuna London Athletics Meet on July 18.

World record holder Warholm won the first of his three world titles at the London Stadium back in 2017, but he has not competed in the British capital since his last Diamond League appearance there back in 2019.

“I can’t wait to race again in London,” said the 30-year-old, who is also the reigning Diamond League champion after securing his third series title in 2025.

“All my memories of the London Stadium are good ones – winning gold at the World Championships in 2017, setting a meeting record and Norwegian national record in 2018, and setting a European record and meeting record in 2019. I love that place and I’m excited to get back out there. I really want to set another meeting record and I want to have fun doing it!”

Warholm is the fastest man in history over the 400m hurdles and the only person ever to go under 46 seconds in the event.

As well as his three world titles, three European titles and three Diamond League titles, Warholm also won Olympic gold in Tokyo in 2021.

He broke the world record twice in that season, clocking 46.71 at his home Diamond League meeting in Oslo before running 45.94 in the Olympic final.

Warholm claimed five wins en route to the Diamond League title last season, setting a new series record of 46.21 in Silesia.

He also set new world bests over 300m hurdles in both Xiamen and Oslo.

He is now confirmed to compete at three Diamond League meetings in 2026, launching his season in Xiamen and Keqiao in May before heading to London in July.

London is the 11th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Doha on May 8 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
