World record breaker Hodgkinson heads to Stockholm

British middle-distance star Keely Hodgkinson will headline the women's 800m at the BAUHAUS-Galan Wanda Diamond League meeting in Stockholm in June.

Two-time Diamond League champion Keely Hodgkinson will be out to continue her record-breaking form when she returns to the Stockholm Wanda Diamond League meeting on June 7.

Olympic champion in 2024 and bronze medallist at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo last year, Hodgkinson is back in world-beating form after missing much of last season through injury.

Stockholm was one of several Diamond League meetings from which the British star was forced to withdraw in 2025.

She made an emphatic return to action in August, setting a world lead on her first race back in Silesia before breaking a 23-year-old meeting record in Lausanne the following week.

The 24-year-old has continued that formidable form this year, breaking the 800m indoor world record with 1:54.87 in Lievin last month.

She now has her sights set firmly on the outdoor world record, which has stood for 43 years since Jarmila Kratochvilova’s 1:53.28 in 1983.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to Stockholm. It was disappointing to have to withdraw last year. I love the crowd at Stockholm Olympic Stadium and I’m excited for a great race. I hope as many people as possible will be there,” said Hodgkinson.

Hodgkinson is also confirmed to compete at the Eugene leg of the Diamond League on July 4, where she will take on fellow Tokyo medallists Lilian Odira and Georgia Hunter Bell.

Stockholm is the sixth leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Doha on May 8 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
