Having already signed up for meetings in Paris and Rome, US sprint star Noah Lyles has his sights set on another historic Diamond League season in 2026.
Lyles rewrote the history books last year when he won the Diamond Trophy in the 200m, becoming the first track athlete ever to win six titles in athletics’ premier one-day series.
Yet it wasn’t all plain sailing for the Olympic champion, who also suffered a handful of defeats in a season blighted by injury in 2025.
In the latest episode of our 2025 Revisited series, we take a look back at the London leg of last season, where Lyles was beaten by world-champion-in-waiting Oblique Seville.
London was Lyles’ first Diamond League appearance of the season, after the American missed much of the first half of the campaign with a tendon injury.
Despite posting a respectable 10.00, Lyles had to make do with second place behind Seville, who stormed to his first ever Diamond League win with an explosive 9.86.
It was the first of two defeats the Jamaican inflicted on Lyles en route to the world title, the second coming in Lausanne a few weeks later.
Other highlights in London included a Diamond League record of 71.70m from Mykolas Alekna in the men’s discus and world leads for Julien Alfred in the women’s 200m and Gudaf Tsegay in the women’s mile.

Each week between now and the beginning of the season, full half-hour highlights packages of each 2025 Wanda Diamond League meeting will be made available on the series YouTube channel.
