New world record holder Ja’Kobe Tharp will continue his breakthrough onto the Wanda Diamond League stage at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Silesia, Poland on August 23.
Tharp ran 12.75 at the NCAA Championships this month, breaking the previous world record of 12.80 set by Aries Merritt at the Diamond League Final in Brussels in 2012.
He now heads into the second half of the Diamond League season as the new favourite for the series title, with appearances in both Eugene and Silesia in July and August.
The 21-year-old joins a growing list of world record holders in Silesia that also includes Karsten Warholm in the men’s 400m hurdles and Yaroslava Mahuchikh in the women’s high jump.
Silesia is the 13th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
