The reigning world champion, Olympic champion and world record holder are set to clash on the Diamond League stage once again as Masai Russell, Ditaji Kambundji and Tobi Amusan go head to head in the women’s 100m hurdles in Zurich on August 27.
Swiss world champion Kambundji will have the home crowd behind her at Weltklasse, and will hope to channel the same form which saw her stun both Russell and Amusan in Tokyo last September.
Yet she will have her work cut out as both the Olympic champion and the world record holder have been in ominous form this year.
US star Russell opened her Diamond League campaign with an eye-catching 12.14 in Xiamen, just 0.02 seconds short of Amusan’s world record.
She has had the record in her sights ever since, storming to back-to-back meeting records in Eugene and Monaco earlier this month.
Nigeria’s Amusan has also enjoyed a return to form, clocking 12.28 to win in both Rabat and Paris.
The 29-year-old is hoping to win a fourth Diamond League title in 2026, having won the trophy three times in a row between 2021 and 2023.
The USA’s Grace Stark, the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser and Barbados’ Devynne Charlton complete a world-class field at Weltklasse Zürich.
Zurich is the 14th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
