The world’s best female shot putters will lock horns on the Wanda Diamond League stage once again at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on July 4.
In a competition which features three of the top five in the world rankings, the USA’s Chase Jackson will be hoping for home advantage when she takes on world champion Jessica Schilder and Olympic champion Yemisi Ogunleye.
Jackson has form at Hayward Field, having won at last year’s Diamond League meeting and the World Championships in 2022.
A two-time Diamond League champion, she will be hoping to add to her impressive tally of 16 Diamond League wins in front of her home crowd in July.
Schilder was the star of last season, winning the Diamond League title in Zurich before going on to become the first European in a decade to be crowned shot put world champion.
Ogunleye won a sensation gold at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and goes into the 2026 season as world number five.
The line-up also features New Zealand star Maddison Lee-Wesche.
Eugene is the ninth leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
