Aregawi, Fisher and Almgren in Oslo 5000m

Berihu Aregawi, Andreas Almgren and Grant Fisher are among the global stars set to grace the track in the men's 5000m at the Bislett Games Wanda Diamond League meeting in Oslo next month.

Some of the best long distance runners in the world will line up in the men’s 5000m at the Oslo leg of the Wanda Diamond League on June 10.

Two-time Diamond League champion Berihu Aregawi, Olympic bronze medallist Grant Fisher and European record holder Andreas Almgren lead a world-class line-up at the Bislett Games that includes 10 of the fastest 15 runners from last season.

Ethiopia’s Aregawi won the Diamond League title in 2021 and 2024 and is currently ranked number seven in the world.

The USA’s Fisher won bronze over 5000m and 10,000m at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and is the current world record holder in the 3000m and 5000m short track.

Sweden’s Almgren claimed his first ever Diamond League win in style last season, smashing a European record on home soil in Stockholm.

They will face stiff competition in Oslo in a field that also includes world silver medallist Isaac Kimeli, Kenya’s Jacob Krop, the USA’s Nico Young and Ethiopians Birhanu Balew and Biniam Mehary.

Oslo is the sixth leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
