Sri Lankan javelin prodigy Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage an US 110m hurdles star Cordell Tinch will join the star-studded line-up at the Doha leg of the Wanda Diamond League next Friday.
Pathirage and Tinch will both make their third appearance of the Diamond League season in Doha, joining the likes of Mondo Duplantis, Hamish Kerr, Marileidy Paulino and Soufiane El Bakkali on the entry lists.
Pathirage is one of the most exciting talents in the sport and has made waves with an explosive start to his Diamond League career this year.
He finished second on debut in Rabat last month, before taking a first win with a huge 92.62m effort in Rome a few days later.
It was the first time the Sri Lankan had thrown beyond 90 metres and it took him to eighth on the all-time list in the men’s javelin.
He will take on a formidable field in Doha that includes Keshorn Walcott, Anderson Peters and Arshad Nadeem.
Tinch enjoyed the season of a lifetime in 2025 as he stormed to both the Diamond League and world titles in the sprint hurdles.
The American is still chasing his first Diamond League win of the season, however, having opened with second and fifth place finishes in Keqiao and Xiamen.
“I’m excited to get back on track in Doha,” said the 25-year-old. “I had a few challenges leading into this outdoor season and although I was happy with my result in Shanghai, I don’t think I did myself justice in Xiamen.”
Doha is the seventh leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
