Four more Olympic champions confirmed for Rome
The list of Olympic champions in action at this year’s Pietro Mennea Golden Gala continues to grow, with four more gold medallists now confirmed for the Rome leg of the Wanda Diamond League on June 6.
Having already confirmed Paris 2024 gold medal winners in the men’s long jump and women’s 5000m, Rome is now also set to welcome a quartet of Olympic champions in the men’s high jump, women’s triple jump, men’s 400m and women’s discus.
Reigning Diamond League champion Valarie Allman will headline the discus, as she builds her bid for a fifth Diamond Trophy in 2025.
The American recently threw a personal best of 73.92m in Ramona, Oklahoma, the best mark in the discipline since 1989.
High jump Olympic champion Hamish Kerr will also be in action, just a few weeks after he launches his 2025 Diamond League campaign in Doha.
In the men’s 400m, Quincy Hall makes his first ever appearance at the Golden Gala.
The American claimed his first Diamond League win in Monaco last season, before going on to win a thrilling final at Paris 2024.
Women’s triple jump star Thea LaFond also makes her Rome debut, and will be hoping to claim her first Diamond League win since Rabat in 2022.
