De Sousa faces stellar long jump field in Stockholm

World indoor champion Agate De Sousa will go up against decorated rivals at the BAUHAUS-Galan Diamond League meeting in June.

Newly crowned world indoor champion Agate De Sousa will take on a world class field in the women’s long jump at the Stockholm leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League on June 7.

De Sousa leapt to victory at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Kujawy Pomorze last weekend, beating a field which included reigning Diamond League champion Larissa Iapichino.

The 25-year-old will now be hoping to claim her first ever Diamond League win when she lines up at the BAUHAUS-Galan in June.

De Sousa made her Diamond League debut in Stockholm back in 2022, and she returns four years later to take on a field stacked with global champions.

Iapichino has held the Diamond League title since 2024, picking up six wins over the past three seasons in athletics’ premier one-day series.

Germany’s Malaika Mihambo, a two-time world champion and Olympic gold and silver medallist, will also fancy her chances of victory in Stockholm.

Swedish stars Maja Åskag and Khaddi Sagnia will also be competing in front of their home crowd, with Sagnia returning to the Stockholm Olympic Stadium for the first time 2022.

Stockholm is the sixth leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Doha on May 8 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
