The world’s best long distance runners will be in action at the Athletissima Wanda Diamond League meeting in Lausanne on August 21.
Winfred Yavi, Faith Cherotich and Marwa Bouzayani go head to head in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, while Grant Fisher, Addisu Yihune, Birhanu Balew and Parker Wolfe face off in the men’s 5000m.
Bahrain’s Yavi is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s steeplechase and won the Diamond League title in 2023, but she is still chasing her first win in the series this season.
Kenya’s Cherotich is the reigning Diamond League and world champion and heads to Lausanne on the back of victory in Eugene last month.
Tunisia’s Bouzayani claimed her first ever Diamond League win with a meeting record of 8:59.28 in Stockholm in June.
Yihune, Balew and Fisher are all in the top six of the men’s 5000m world rankings, while Wolfe is one of the disciplines rising stars after he won the NCAA title in June.

Lausanne is the 12th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
