Lyles in line for London 100m

Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles will return to the London Wanda Diamond League meeting for the third season in a row on July 19.

US sprint star Noah Lyles will return to Wanda Diamond League action in the men’s 100m in London on July 19.

After securing his first ever Olympic gold medal in Paris last season, Lyles is aiming to defend his 100m world title at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo later this year.

He also has the chance to win a sixth Diamond Trophy in 2025, which would move him to within one title of the record currently held by Renaud Lavillenie and Christian Taylor.

Lyles already has five series titles and 2022 Diamond League wins to his name, with London among his favourite stops on athletics’ premier one-day series.

He has raced in the British capital in each of the last two seasons, clocking a 200m world lead of 19.47 in 2023 and a 100m personal best of 9.81 in 2024.

“My road to defending my world titles in Tokyo in September goes through London,” said the 27-year-old. “I’ve had great experiences there the last two years, running some of my fastest times, and I look forward to another in July. See you there!”
