Sprint legends join stellar Silesia 100m

Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shericka Jackson and Sha'Carri Richardson will join Julien Alfred and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden in the women's 100m at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Silesia.

Three of the world’s greatest female sprinters will join a star-studded women’s 100m line-up at the Silesia leg of the Wanda Diamond League on August 23.

Jamaican stars Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shericka Jackson and the USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson will all take to the blocks at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, in a field which unites four of the top six in the current world rankings.

They join Olympic champion Julien Alfred and world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden on the entry list, both of whom had already confirmed their attendance in Silesia.

Jackson is a three-time Diamond League champion and two-time world champion and is currently the world number one over 200m.

The 32-year-old has made an emphatic return to form this year after struggling with injury in 2025, opening her Diamond League campaign with back-to-back 200m wins in Shanghai/Keqiao and Xiamen.

Elaine Thompson-Herah is the second-fastest woman in history thanks to the 10.54 she ran at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene in 2021.

A four-time Olympic champion and three-time Diamond League champion, the Jamaican legend will make her first Diamond League appearance in two years in Silesia.

Sha’Carri Richardson was 100m world champion in 2023 and, like Jackson, has also returned to formidable form this season.

The American has twice clocked 10.77 this year, her fastest time in four years, and was crowned US champion in New York last month.

Silesia is the 13th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
