Four of the biggest stars in Swiss athletics will compete in front of their home crowd at the penultimate Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season at Weltklasse Zurich on August 27.
Reigning Diamond League champions Simon Ehammer (long jump) and Audrey Werro (800m) will be in action at the Letzigrund Stadium alongside 100m hurdles world champion Ditaji Kambundji and world indoor bronze medallist Angelica Moser.
Werro and Ehammer sent Zurich into raptures last year with sensational victories at the Wanda Diamond League Final at Weltklasse.
Ehammer jumped 8.32m to win the long jump at the first day of the final on Sechseläutenplatz, before Werro raced to a stunning Swiss record of 1:55.91 at the Letzigrund the following evening.
Both hit similar form at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Kujawy Pomorze last weekend, with Ehammer setting a new world record in the heptathlon and Werro claiming silver in the 800m.
Kambundji stunned the world when she seized the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo last year, beating a field which included Olympic champion Masai Russell and world record holder Tobi Amusan.
After three podium finishes in last season’s Diamond League campaign, she will be chasing a first ever win in Zurich in 2026.
European pole vault champion Moser knows what it takes to win on home soil, having taken victory at the other Swiss Diamond League meeting in Lausanne last season.
The 29-year-old is now eyeing her third Diamond League win in 2026 after an impressive bronze medal at the world indoors.
Zurich is the 14th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Doha on May 8 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
