Swiss superstars look to Lausanne

Swiss stars Ditaji Kambundji, Audrey Werro, Simon Ehammer and Angelica Moser will have the home crowd behind them at the Athletissima Wanda Diamond League meeting in Lausanne in August.

World 100m hurdles champion Ditaji Kambundji will lead a line-up of Swiss superstars at the 12th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League in Lausanne.

Kambundji will join Diamond League champions Simon Ehammer (long jump) and Audrey Werro (800m) and pole vault star Angelica Moser in front of an adoring home crowd at the Stade de la Pontaise at this year’s Athletissima meeting on August 21.

All four athletes are also confirmed to compete at Weltklasse Zurich six days later, making Lausanne the first half of a stellar Swiss double bill in the Diamond League.

Ehammer and Werro know what it takes to win on home soil, having both claimed the Diamond League title in Zurich last season.

Werro stormed to a sensational national record of 1:55.91 in the women’s 800m, while Ehammer snatched his second title in two years with 8.32m in the long jump.

Kambundji also enjoyed a historic night in Zurich, equalling the national record with 12.40.

She missed out on the title that night, but went on to claim gold at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo a few weeks later.

Moser also has form on home soil, having won the women’s pole vault with 4.35m in tricky conditions at last year’s Athletissima.

Other Swiss stars in action in Lausanne include 110m hurdler Jason Joseph, sprinter Ajla Del Ponte and European 200m champion Timothée Mumenthaler.

Lausanne is the 12th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
