Tebogo and Thompson among stars in Keqiao 100m

Jamaica's Kishane Thompson and Botswana's Letsile Tebogo will take on a world-class field in the men's 100m at the Shanghai/Keqiao leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League.

The 2026 Wanda Diamond League will begin with a bang in the men’s 100m next month, as Kishane Thompson and Letsile Tebogo take on a formidable field of sprint superstars at the season opener in Shanghai/Keqiao.

Olympic and world silver medallist Thompson and Olympic 200m champion Tebogo are among the biggest names in a star-studded field which also includes Christian Coleman, Kenneth Bednarek, Trayvon Bromell, Akani Simbine and Gift Leotla.

Thompson and Tebogo are both chasing their first ever Diamond League title in 2026, having notched up a total of 11 victories between them in athletics’ premier one-day series over the past two years.

Yet they begin their Road to the Final with the toughest of tests in a line-up bursting with Diamond League pedigree.

Coleman is the reigning Diamond League champion over 100m after he claimed a third series title with victory in Zurich last September.

Bednarek is the current world number three behind Thompson and world champion Oblique Seville and has twice won the Diamond League title over 200m.

His most recent title win came in 2024, when he snatched a stunning victory over Tebogo at the final in Brussels.

Bromell won the 100m title in 2022 and recently won bronze over 60m at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Poland.

Simbine is also a world indoor bronze medallist and ranks among the most successful sprinters in recent Diamond League history, despite never having won the title.

The South African star has notched up 12 wins in the series, including a stunning photo finish victory over Thompson in Keqiao last season.

Shanghai/Keqiao is the opening leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which will cross four continents and 15 cities en route to the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
