Olympic champions descend on London

Rai Benjamin, Valarie Sion, Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Marileidy Paulino are among the Olympic champions set to compete at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in London.

A dazzling array of Olympic champions and world record holders will descend on London for the 11th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League on July 19.

Rai Benjamin, Marileidy Paulino, Valarie Sion, Ja’Kobe Tharp, Marco Arop, Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Yaroslava Mahuchikh are the latest stars to join a star-studded line-up at the Novuna London Athletics Meet.

Benjamin is the reigning Olympic champion in the 400m hurdles, but will race in the 400m flat in London after switching events this season.

The US star has already made a strong start to his Diamond League campaign, with a second-place finish and personal best of 44.11 in Eugene last weekend.

Paulino will headline the women’s 400m, as she continues her bid to regain the Diamond League title in 2026.

The Dominican Republic sprinter lost her series title for the first time in four years last season, but began the current campaign with a bang, setting a new Diamond League record with 48.48 in Paris.

Sion is unbeaten in her last 16 Diamond League competitions in the women’s discus and is chasing a record-equalling sixth series title in 2026.

Twenty-year-old 110m hurdler Tharp sensationally broke the world record with 12.75 at the NCAA Championships in June, before finishing second behind Jamal Britt in his first Diamond League appearance since turning professional in Eugene last weekend.

Arop is the Olympic silver medallist over 800m, while Mahuchikh is the reigning Olympic champion and world record holder in the high jump and a 23-time Diamond League meeting winner.

Double Olympic gold medallist and five-time Diamond League champion Miller-Uibo made her first Diamond League appearance in three years at the season opener in Shanghai/Keqiao, finishing a strong second in the women’s 200m.

British stars Laura Muir, Jake Wightman and Jeremiah Azu will also be in action in front of their home crowd at the London Stadium.

London is the 11th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
