Shericka Jackson and Emmanuel Wanyonyi will both face tough tests when the Wanda Diamond League season resumes at Lausanne’s Athletissima on August 21.
Jamaican sprint star Jackson takes on Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Amy Hunt in the women’s 200m, while Kenya’s Wanyonyi faces Marco Arop and Brandon Miller in the men’s 800m.
Jackson will be hoping to pick up a third Diamond League win of the season in Lausanne, having beaten Miller-Uibo in Shanghai/Keqiao and Xiamen at the start of the campaign.
Another victory in Switzerland would see the Jamaican qualify for the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 4-5, where she will compete for a fourth career Diamond Trophy.
Wanyonyi has already qualified for September’s final thanks to a string of top-three finishes in the Diamond League this year, including a 1000m world record in Monaco.
As well as setting his sights on the 800m world record, the Kenyan is also hoping to win a fourth successive Diamond League title in 2026.
Yet it has been a tougher campaign than usual, and Wanyonyi is still chasing his first win over 800m.
The Olympic and world champion suffered narrow defeats to several rivals, including Miller in London last month.
Arop is the fastest man in the world this year, meanwhile, having set the world lead with 1:41.84 at the Diamond League meeting in Paris in June.
Lausanne is the 12th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
