Swiss middle-distance star Audrey Werro will return to Weltklasse Zürich a year after her sensational Wanda Diamond League title win at the Letzigrund Stadium last year.
Werro burst onto the global stage with her impressive victory in last year’s Diamond League Final, clocking a Swiss record of 1:55.91 to win her first ever Diamond Trophy.
The 22-year-old has since established herself as one of the fastest 800m runners in history with a string of brilliant performances in the Diamond League this season.
She became the third-fastest woman ever with a Diamond League record of 1:53.98 in Stockholm in early June, before shaving a further 0.18 seconds off the record with 1:53.80 in Paris a few weeks later.
Werro will have the home crowd behind her in Zurich as she takes on a typically world class field at Weltklasse.
Her rivals include reigning world champion Lilian Odira of Kenya, world number four Georgia Hunter Bell of Great Britain and new challenger Femke Broeders-Bol of the Netherlands.
Zurich is the 14th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
